Senior Operations Manager

THE ROLE: Senior Operations Manager

Responsible for the day-to-day operations performance at our 400k sq. foot, Shepherdsville, KY fulfillment center. THIS POSITION IS ONSITE. The role includes leading fulfillment center activities across the operations spectrum and will work to continuously improve the functionality and level of service that the FC provides to our internal and external customers as well as our associates. This position reports to the VP of Operations and works closely with EHS director and HR.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and drive staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and safety initiatives to enable Operations team to meet of exceed member expectations and Operations Budget.
  • Manage a team of operations managers and supervisors with daily FC performance responsibility of a 200+ (250 in peak season) employees within a very fast-paced/ time-critical and demanding environment
  • Set/ clarify requirements and expectations for Operations Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders
  • Measure performance through metrics, providing feedback, and holding Managers/Supervisors accountable for their performance and the performance of their departments
  • As needed partner with Managers/Supervisors to establish corrective action plans to ensure that department meets objectives
  • Leverage ideas of Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders to source and nurture creative improvement plans for the FC
  • Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments and shifts
  • Work closely with support staff (HR, EHS/Facilities/LP Manager, IT/WMS Manager) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and work rules.
  • Ensure Safety and security procedures are always followed
  • Maintains a complete management overview and thorough understanding of inventory in a multi-product automated environment
  • Achieve inventory accuracy targets
  • Continuously measure and evaluate the departmental goals and all work processes, available daily labor and daily production goals and hourly progress towards these goals
  • Improve quality and eliminate errors and improve units per hour productivity.
  • Manage and report metrics daily
  • Oversight and Adherence to Fulfillment budget and P&L
  • Implement Process improvements and ensure SOP adherence

  • BS/BA Degree required.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt certification is a plus but not required.
  • Min 7 years of high volume, fast paced distribution and/or fulfillment operations experience required.
  • Proven success in improving quality, service and productivity within operational environment.
  • Experience working in a team oriented, multi-shift environment.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills required.
  • Proven competencies in MS Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.
  • Experience with Manhattan WMS is highly preferred.
